I don't favour social networking sites as a rule. Some of my friends do. So I do get 'invites' to join sites like WAYN, Twoo and such-like. Sometimes, depending on who the inviter is or on how persistent he is, I do register at the site. Usually it ends at that with me getting the standard "Welcome Aboard!" email.
The same happened for Batchmates.com. I bumped into someone from school at a function and we got around to playing "Remember Jim?" I mentioned how I was keen on getting some info about someone I was really close to in school. My friend advised me to get on to Batchmates. Well, I did. As usual I registered and that was that.
Then one day, right out of the blue, I get a mail on my gmail account - it was a notification from Batchmates that "Gian has sent you a Hi Note @ Batchmates..."
Omigosh!
Omigosh! Omigosh!
Dazed, I opened the mail and followed the link to Batchmates. Now, there was a problem... I had forgotten my Batchmates password! Omigosh, omigosh!
Anyway, I followed the "Forgot your password?" link and recovered my password. Thank goodness!
I read and replied to Gian's Hi Note. Gave her my regular email address. And got back in touch with my childhood.
Gian and her brother Pio (I'm in touch with him too, thanks to Gian!) were my extended family when I was a kid. Theirs was my second home, no doubts about it. Whenever I went missing from home, my Mom would always send someone around to Gian's place to look for me, and that's where I'd be found.
We're just a couple of mails into our 'reunion' and already my childhood is flooding back in crashing waves of nostalgia (if you'll pardon the mixing of metaphors!).
So... let me give credit where credit's due... Hats off to Batchmates.com!
Great job, mate! Keep it up! Thanks for getting me back my childhood!
I've heard of the old "Six (and Seven) Degrees of Separation" concept. Looks good in theory and on paper. Let's see if it works in the 'real' world. Write to us with your ideas, suggestions, and comments - the address is mail@friends.chapmanhilton.com
So, let me go first -
I'm looking for Dominic Gonsalves, must be around 59 (as of 2012). We studied together at St. Aloysius' High School (1962 - 1966) in Bhusawal (or Bhusaval) in Maharashtra, INDIA. He has two brothers, both younger, Leonard and Roland, and a younger sister, Isabelle. His Dad's name is Peter and his Mum's name is Grace. They used to live in the building which housed Amardeep Talkies (previously named 'Linda Talkies') in Bhusawal.
Last I heard was that he was in Bombay (Mumbai).
Now let's go find the man!
